Brokeback Mountain: The Opera? It's happening. The short story by Annie Proulx that inspired Ang Lee's big screen adaptation, will be made into an opera courtesy of the New York City Opera.
The company had commissioned Charles Wuorinen to compose the opera for a spring 2013 opening. Wourinen said he wanted to turn Proulx's short story since reading it and thanked the NYC Opera for allowing it to happen.
