Father Antonio Rungi wanted to have online contest, open to nuns only, where visitors to his blog could find out more about the spiritual and physical beauty of the contestants and vote for their favorite. No so fast, said his superiors.
Father Rungi meant well. With many monasteries "dying" due to the lack of people entering religious vocations, he hoped the contest could "draw more attention to the world of nuns."
However, after getting international attention for this contest, it had been suspended indefinitely. Why?
"My superiors were not happy. The local bishop was not happy, but they did not understand me either," Father Rungi told Reuters. "It was not at all my intention to put nuns on the catwalk."
