Rubel Sheikh, a 25-year-old man in Bangladesh hoping to get blessed by a crocodile, was instead eaten by it after getting too close to the animal.

"He went into the pond hoping to be blessed when a crocodile attacked him and dragged him into the deep part of the pond,'' Inspector Humayun Kabir told the Daily Telegraph.

However, the inspector said the croc attack was out of the ordinary.

"This is a very unusual incident. Normally, the crocodiles are very friendly and do not harm people,'' Kabir said.

Before this incident, hundreds of people traveled to the shrine every day to get blessed by one of the five crocodiles living in the pond.
