Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck is involved in a dispute with another Wolfgang, namely Wolfgang Zwiener, according to BusinessWeek.
When Zwiener opened a steakhouse called Wolfgang's Steakhouse on May 1st, 2008 on Los Angeles a couple of blocks away from Puck's own, Puck decided enough is enough. It's time to call in the lawyers.
You see, Zwiener and Puck came to an agreement back in March of 2007 to prominently display their names next to any future restaurant, franchise, or licensee so patrons wouldn't be confused as to which establishment they're at.
But confused they are with Wolfgang's Steakhouse. Puck began receiving questions from his customers about the new steakhouse.
Zwiener's side said they're abiding by their agreement. If people looked closely, they could see "by Wolfgang Zwiener," in small letters, below the signage.
Puck's side said that's not enough.
"'Wolfgang's Steakhouse' shouts. 'By Wolfgang Zwiener' whispers," said says Puck's attorney Philip Heller.
