A lost cat and her owners were united after spending nine years apart.

According to Reuters, the cat, Dixie, disappeared in 1999 and her owners, the Delaneys, thought she was killed by a car.

Nine years later, someone called the animal shelter about a stray cat that was in an area about half a mile from where the Delaneys were living.

After scanning the microchip embedded in Dixie, the animal shelter official was able to determine who the owners were and reunited them.
